Where to eat, drink and stay in Amsterdam in 2022

A curated City trip

The entire planet just came out of a two-year-long hibernation and travel plans are ready to be made. So, Amsterdam. Why not? Amsterdam is an exciting city, bolstered by history so rich that every single street has its own story to tell. Locals are famously forward-thinking, there are a lot of picturesque restaurants, exciting retail concepts, musea, and everything can be accessed by foot, bicycle or even boat!

where to stay

If you’re looking for an elegant hotel, that is right in the heart of Amsterdam, look no further. This iconic hotel has been crowned as the number one luxury hotel in the Netherlands many times. It is located at the Museum District and very near to the P.C. Hooftstraat, where you can dip yourself into some luxurious shopping. You are also near to the Vondelpark, a place in summer where the cool crowd meets up for picnic’s, endless walks or sports.

The building of the Conservatorium Hotel is a grand old music school transformed into a modern, yet graceful hotel. Not only the outside is impressive, inside you’ll find a gorgeous Art Nouveau interior by the hands of Piero Lissoni. The lobby, with its high ceilings and a wall of glass windows, is spectacular. Guest rooms and suites are spacious, filled with light and contain all the modern day equipment you’d expect.

A must stay, in our opinion. Check out their website for more info.

Coulisse offers ‘easy’ fine dining at its best. Imagine it on a Friday night: amazing seasonal dishes, the coolest people, and an artsy atmosphere determined by a creative collective. The interior of the restaurant is designed by Studio Piet Boon, which gives it its luxurious touch.

The restaurant is located at what used to be the lobby of the old werkteater, a distinctive old theatre building that used to be a creative space for many. You can still feel that same creative atmosphere while enjoying the most exquisite dishes and fine wines.

What To See

A brand new must-see on our list is the Nxt Museum. It is the first museum in the Netherlands that is dedicated to new media art. You can discover large scale, multi-sensory exhibitions that uses modern tools to embody modern times. It is beyond cool, and a very inspiring hotspot if you love to dip yourself into new and exciting things.

The Nxt Museum is located in the up and coming North Amsterdam Area. Which is a very cool area to visit if you’re not into the usual ‘touristy’ spots. The building that houses the Museum provides all the ingredients for progressive art forms to flow and flourish.

The Museum also has an impressive pop-up bar available to have coffee, lunch and aperitivo - The museum closes at 22:30 from Thursday - Saturday and 20:30 from Sunday to Wednesday.

Check out their website for more info.

Side note. If you are an art-conscious traveler, you are probably very much aware of the incredible Dutch Art history. Most museums are situated around the (what’s in the name) Museumplein. And if you follow our list, you’re already quite close to where the artsy magic happens. If you have time, we recommend you to visit the Museumsquare and its extraordinary museums.
